It was Saturday, 4th December 2010. Kim Hyun Joong in Malaysia. Yes he was. To be honest I’m not he’s ultimate fan since in Boys Over Flower I preferred Kim Joon over him (weird, much? LOL). Am not a Triple S either, though some of SS501 songs are my favorites too. Nowadays, I am belated in K-Drama department, so as I’m writing this, I haven’t even watch Playful Kiss yet (maybe I should have). That being said, however, I was planning to ‘sneak a peek’ for Hyun Joong’s fan meeting nonetheless.
Reason being, he’s one hot Hallyu star (with a face you just have to adore!), and also, I’m not his anti-fan. Hehe. Plus, I knew there would be one helluva crowd at Pavilion during the fan meeting so, having a peek would be enough for me. I didn’t have the willpower to push or being pushed in a crowd. With that mindset I prepared to go out with my friend Dekinn (who’s a fan of KHJ) to Pavilion. BOTH of us didn’t have high hopes of seeing KHJ up close.
I mean how often can you get such opportunity? It’s like seeing a ray of light behind an extremely dark clouds. Oh, yes I was on cloud nine right then and there! Hehe. Traffic was smooth, but I began to feel extremely nervous. I didn’t even finish my nasi lemak special at Old Town.
So we arrived at the venue. Fans were starting to fill up the area and there were queues to get the free poster goodies from Face Shop (goodies limited to those who shopped a certain amount at the outlets). Again, I arrived rather early. About 2 hours before the fan meeting starts so we were only lounging around, taking photos of fans.
Registration for media started at about 4.30pm and we had to make our way through (A LOT OF) excited fans and took our spot at the media area (about 3-4 meters from the main stage). Lucky us, since we came early we managed to get the center spot, clearer view of Mr. Kim Hyun Joong.
Before the fan meeting started, I took a look at the fans area and my oh my.. there were practically an OCEAN of fans that came to the fan meeting. There were overseas fans too. The number of fans on the right side was increasing and they started pushing, trying to get a better look at their favorite star. KHJ was supposed to arrive at 5pm and thankfully he didn’t follow the ‘Malaysian VIP’s way’ of arriving to any event (read: LATE).
And so, the MCs started the fan meeting. The male MC was EXTREMELY LOUD that day, perhaps he didn’t know he was not supposed to shout at a microphone. LOL. He started asking questions to KHJ, but I noticed that the FIRST thing KHJ looked at was at the fans on the side. He saw that they were pushing to the front and became VERY concerned.
Ignoring the questions by the MC, KHJ asked the fans not to push because it might be dangerous for them. He did not want any bad thing to happen to anyone who attended the event. The moment I saw his worried gaze and concerned eyes towards the fans I was like ‘awwwwwww.. that is so sweet of him’. LOL
So the event went on with a few questions basically asking how he takes care of his skin and how does it feels to have such GORGEOUS and HANDSOME face (?!). Being KHJ, he answered with a rather straight, no nonsense face of his. THAT really made my day! Haha. Then he launched the new product by Face Shop which I was supposed to take note but I didn’t. Keke.
That day, only 200 lucky fans got the chance to go up the stage and get his signature/autograph. Lucky them, but I felt rather sad to see the other 5,000+ fans of his. (Okay, that was only my estimation. It might be more, or even less than that. LOL).
It amazed me how short the event was because if I’m not mistaken, KHJ left the venue at around 5.45 pm. There wasn’t any special event or performance but heck, KHJ was there! That is more than enough for all of his fans. To Kim Hyun Joong, even though I could not see you up close, but I did see you CLEARLY. And yes you’re one helluva angel sent from above. The perfectness of your face, makes no sense at all (yes, that’s how gorgeous he was!). We were 4 meters apart, but that was close enough. 🙂 Do come back again!
